Tuesday 7:30 – 8:45pm Alignment Yoga Level (1&2):
This class is a natural progression up from Level 1 (beginner’s), which is the level that focuses mostly on the standing poses or “teaches you to stand on your own two feet first”. In addition to refining and reviewing poses already learned classes will now be themed based.
Examples of common themes would be a back bending class, a forward bending class or a class emphasizing twists. In addition, we will be doing the prep work and any modifications necessary to prepare for a safe and regular inversion practice.
This class is taught as a series only and permission from the instructor is necessary.
Ron Felix BS, MPH, RYT
In 1991 Ron Felix opened Knoxville’s first commercial yoga studio, the Knoxville Yoga Center.
Initially, Ron taught Bikram’s (hot yoga) which he learned while living in Key West, Florida.
In 1992 Ron was introduced to the Iyengar method of yoga which is known for its attention paid to precision and alignment. After 25 years of studying and teaching the Iyengar method, participating in over 50 workshops and/or teachers’ trainings, Ron’s classes are a reflection of the love and appreciation he has for the myriad of effects yoga can have on the total “self”.
In June, Ron retired from the daily rigor required to operate a business studio, but plans to continue to teach part-time classes as well as private lessons.
Ron is registered as an RYT and an E-RYT with Yoga Alliance at the 500 hour level and has thousands of hours teaching experience having regularly taught 15-16 classes a week.
