Private Yoga

Private Yoga with Christina Gerdes, E-RYT 200, E-RYT-500, YACEP

Christina was introduced to yoga in the early 90’s as a teenager and continued to do yoga throughout college and beyond until in 2003 she began Five Elements School of Yoga’s yoga teacher training to further her own practice. During the 8-month training, she fell in love with teaching. She has taught at multiple studios throughout the Southeast and West Coast, has been a member of Yoga Alliance since 2006, attended the first Symposium of Yoga Therapy and Research sponsored by the International Association of Yoga Therapists in LA, and has taken many continuing education workshops.

Christina specializes in teaching private yoga lessons tailored to each individual student. She uses postures, breath adaptation and breath practices, bandhas, yoga philosophy, mantra and meditation to create a class just for you. Each private lesson includes a stick figure drawing of Your Own Personal Home Practice, which can be adjusted and adapted as You Adjust and Adapt through Day to Day Life.

Christina tries to create a fun, peaceful and accepting environment where students can practice yoga and have the confidence to take it off the mat. She believes yoga is a way of life and that there is a style and purpose to yoga that suits each student, and she tries to create a class that is “flexible” for all.

In 2014 she released an Open Heart Yoga 6-Disc DVD set of yoga classes for beginners to intermediate students. She also completed her first 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Certification through Asheville Yoga Center that same year.  Christina recently completed her second 500 hour training with Gary Kraftsow and Viniyoga Foundations for Teaching and Yoga Therapy in the Fall of 2019.
